About the Campaign

The fighting in Mosul has displaced hundreds of thousands of civilians with more and more each day fleeing the escalating violence into nearby Iraqi Kurdistan. A new field hospital has been established in nearby Iraqi Kurdistan to assist over 100,000 civilians who have already fled. This is the only camp based field emergency unit in the area, situated to the east of Mosul. It is a cooperative project between AdventistHelp and ADRA (see links at the end).

I will be travelling to Iraqi Kurdistan to assist in emergency first aid and interpretation (Arabic<>English) between locals and medics. I will spend a total of 30 days on site. For this reason I am today asking you, friends, family and colleagues, for any small or large donation, whatever you can afford, to help fund the costs of running the hospital and medical supplies. Your donation will go a long way to helping the locals, many of them children, deal with the terrible tragedy that has become their reality and may still be for some time yet. I am aiming to raise $10,000. I believe together we can achieve this, every donation will add up, no matter the amount. What may seem to be a small sacrifice on our end, the cost of a few beers or a meal, will go a very long way in helping the victims of this tragedy and saving many little lives that need not be lost to a lack of medical care.

Your donations will go towards hospital supplies such as:
i)   Maintaining the generators for electricity
ii)  Sanitary equipment
iii) Surgery utensils
iv) Medication
v)  Anything else the hospital needs

As a disclaimer, although the organisation has religious connotations, all donations will be purely directed towards medical facilities only.

If you would like more information about the organisations facilitating this opportunity, please see the following two sites.

Finally, by donating through fundmycharitywork, a small amount of each dollar is also helping this great organisation continue their excellent work in Nepal!!
